Dr. Joel Haight, expert witness in safety engineering and expert witness in human factors engineering.

Dr. Joel Haight, Branch Chief of Mining Injury Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), is an expert in safety engineering and human factors engineering. He has provided expert opinions in cases concerning back injuries and can provide expertise in cases concerning human factors engineering, back injuries, and falls. He is widely recognized for his research and publications on industrial engineering and human factors engineering including safety related intervention effectiveness, aging workers and human error. Prior to joining the CDC, Dr. Haight served as an Associate Professor of Energy and Mineral Engineering at Penn State. Prior to joining the faculty at Penn State, Dr. Haight worked as a safety engineer for the Chevron Corporation for 18 years. He is board certified by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He has a B.S. degree in Safety Sciences, and a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in Industrial and System Engineering.
